Let's get started! So you want to donate money to help with impact of the bushfires in Australia. But you want to know where in Australia your donation will be spent, who will receive the benefit, and what the money will be spent on.

There are seven questions below to help you narrow down where to make your donation. If you want to answer only one question, try the simple version of the tool.

Fire Relief Fund for First Nations Communities

"The aim of this fundraiser is to offer a culturally sensitive, specific direct support to some of those communities with critical costs to cover expenses including the following:
- temporary relocation costs (hotel expenses, fuel, renting, possible medical needs)
-other basic amenity and emergency relief costs to assist with this very difficult time such clothing , miscellaneous vital personal items.
-refurbishment of damaged property where applicable
-resettling expenses where applicable
-ongoing rental support where necessary
-replacement of vital items i.e damaged medical equipment, clothing, toiletries, other vital personal belongings.
The funds raised will be distributed via the purchase of requested necessary items where appropriate / will be allocated directly to impacted community and/or community service co operatives/orgs to facilitate support to communities where possible in need of additional support upon a needs basis for those with emergency needs. "

NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc. (WIRES)

"WIRES is rescuing and caring for as many sick, injured and orphaned native animals as possible."

"recovery programs and emergency assistance in communities affected by disasters like bushfires, heat, floods cyclones and other emergencies; helping people and communities prepare for disasters and protect what matters most; training, equipment, logistics and coordination of our volunteers"

Animals Australia

"We are providing immediate support to expert wildlife vets to travel to fire-devastated areas. They'll help any surviving animals, and provide much needed support and resources to local wildlife carers."

Port Macquarie Koala Hospital

"Initially, the hospital’s aim was to raise money to purchase and distribute automatic drinking stations which will be installed in the burnt areas to help in koala and wildlife survival. The number of drinking stations being built has now been increased and they will be shared with other wildlife organisations in fire affected regions across New South Wales. Two are being built for dispatch to the northern rivers fire area next week. We are also purchasing a water carrying vehicle with fire fighting capabilities to replenish the drinking stations with water as needed. Donations have now reached an incredible amount and we are extending the project to establish a wild koala breeding program."

Country Fire Service Foundation (SA)

"We provide financial assistance to CFS volunteer firefighters and their families who have suffered through death, injury, loss or damage of property while in the line of service."

Victorian Bushfire Appeal

Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal

"FRRR makes grants to local not-for-profit groups for community-led projects that address the most pressing needs that emerge 12-18 months after a disaster event. We are urging those wanting to support the affected communities to consider donating to our Disaster Resilience
and Recovery Fund. Grants from the Fund will be able to support community leaders to implement what they need in their community. It could be support for fatigued volunteer leaders, repairing vital community infrastructure or ensuring psychological support is available when it is most needed."

Foodbank

"Foodbank is the only food relief organisation in Australia to play a role in times of emergency and natural disasters such as fires, floods and cyclones. Foodbank provides essential supplies to support the work of first responders and emergency services as well as giving ongoing assistance to affected communities during the months and years it takes to recover."

RSPCA NSW

"Currently, our heroic inspectors and staff are assisting at evacuation centres in northern NSW and beyond, helping members of the public keep their pets and livestock safe from the fires… But once the active fire zones clear, that’s when the most challenging work begins. The RSPCA NSW Inspectorate, working alongside Local Land Services, Department of Primary Industries and district veterinarians, will begin the difficult job of entering affected areas and assessing any injured animals."

State Emergency Relief Fund activated for Cudlee Creek

"The fund will collect donations to provide financial relief for people directly affected by the fire, including those who suffered injury or loss."

Wildlife Victoria

"Donations to our Victorian bushfire appeal will be distributed to wildlife shelters and carers to help rebuild enclosures and equipment that they have lost in the fires so that they can continue their lifesaving work, and support those that are struggling to cope with the enormous number of animals that will need care in the coming weeks and months."
